Koh Blue Universe
*Sigh* So beautiful! I saw this polish on Yacking about Lacquer and I stopped dead in my tracks. I knew I had to find this polish! I arranged a swap with a lovely lady in the Netherlands. I sent a bunch of polish and I got a bunch of lovelies back. This was one of them. It is the blue version of OPI Merry Midnight. I think I will do a comparison between the two before I move on to my next mani. This is 3 coats - probably could have gotten away with 2 but I wanted it to be perfect. Like Merry Midnight, there is a lot going on in the polish. Flakies, silver micro-glitter in a slightly metalic dark blue base. MmmmMmm flakies. This is a fantastic polish. If you can get your paws on this colour I whole heartedly recommend it!
I should also mention this polish comes in a case! Talk about swank! It looks like a case for lipstick (it even has a mirror inside) but I'm such a sucker for those kinds of silly frills. I feel like it makes it special. I received another Koh polish in the swap which I will share with you soon! Stay tuned!

Essie Meet me at Sunset with Essie Matte About You
I have been wanting to try a funky french matte manicure for a while. This is that manicure! I used scotch tape to block of the tips and applied Essie Matte About You along the nail. I peeled back the tape and voila! Instant monochromatic funky french manicure. I think the next time I do this I will try applying the Matte About You over the whole nail and then free hand a top coat for the shiny tips. I'm not crazy about how the tape worked. It looks a little crooked. I think it's just the shape of my nails. It's very in fashion right now to have square or squoval nails. Unfortunately my natural shape is much more oval so I think the tape is just too straight for my nails. I do like the interesting texture. What do you think? Do you like matte effects?

Essie Meet me at Sunset
I decided I needed more reds in my life. I'm seen some gals around town with very bright tomato red nails and I really liked the look. I don't own many reds so when I saw this little lady I thought I'd try her out. I also don't have many Essies either so it worked for me on two counts. I was surprised to find that this was a non-sheer jelly. This was a quick two coats. So after Ballet Slippers (4 coats!!) this was a breeze to apply! I love this colour, however it is a lot more orange then red IMO. Which isn't bad, it just wasn't what I expected. I have to say the Essies that I do own are very nice. So I'll be looking to score some more in the future.

Icing Just Shimmer over Essie Ballet Slippers
This is a super pretty white shimmer I topped over Essie Ballet Slippers. I really like this however the brush is CRAZY wonky and there are actually bits of the brush coming off in the polish. Big nightmare! I'm gonna have to take this back I think. The shimmer is mostly white but I swear I can see flashes of green.

Essie Ballet Slippers
I really couldn't stand that last mani. I had to take it off. It was TOO much for me. I think a lot of that had to do with the fact that my nails had gotten way too long! It's funny how that happens. So I seriously chopped 'em back and I like them much better. They look so much cuter and cleaner... Anywho, this is more what I was thinking of when I was thinking pink. Nice, fresh, light pink. This is Essie Ballet Slippers. The application was a big time pain in the butt though. It was 4 coats! Sheesh! I'd love a nice light pink that didn't take my whole life to apply! I do like the colour but I think I'm still looking for a pink that is a little warmer (more peachy) and maybe not quite as light. Any suggestions my peps?

Nicole by OPI You're An Angel
I loved the mermaid tail mani but sometimes I get a little self conscious of dark fingernails. I love the way they look but somehow I just don't feel super comfortable in really dark nails - especially in the spring/summer. Anywho, I wanted to re-create the magic of the mermaid tail but in pink! I actually wanted to do a light petal pink - but I don't own such a colour - YET. So I tried NOPI You're An Angel and this colour is so up my alley. I love this colour pink! It's a warm pink with a beautiful vibrant glass fleck shimmer. Just so gorgeous! But marching on with my plan I decided to yuck it up with Anna Sui 300.
Anna Sui 300 over Nicole by OPI You're An Angel
Oh boy, I am not liking where this is going. I looks so... um tacky to me. It's funny that I love the most garish nails and yet some glitter I just can't stand. I guess this one is that. I have a sneaky suspicion I'm gonna hate Happy Birthday on the nail too. Well, all is not lost. I'm going to try my little duochrome overlay tomorrow and see if I can dial the tacky back - either that or really gum it up bad. Good thing for acetone!

Ozotic Pro 506 over Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe
I was impatient to try my new Ozotic Pro MultiChromes. This is 506 over Across the Universe. Wow, way to punch up a mani! It is so pretty over the glitter. The multichrome effect is very strong and very beautiful. It works well because it is a little on the sheerside so the glitter peaks through. And just because it wasn't pretty enough, I added 528 to tip it over the edge.

I know there is a lot going on here but that's right up my alley! Now this what I imagine a mermaid's tail to look like!
Also here are the bottle shots of my new Ozotic Pros! Yum!

Deporah Lippmann 3 pack
Got this set at Holt Renfrew in Toronto. I was hoping to get a full size bottles but when I found the pack with Bad Romance, Happy Birthday and Across the Universe (which are all Lippmanns I wanted,) I was pretty happy. I tried Across the Universe first.
Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe
I love this nail polish. I was thinking I should start with underwear but then I decided I need to just go for it. This is 3-4(ish) coats. My instincts where rigth and I think next time I will start with a base just to save on the polish. Lots of people say that this polish reminds them of mermaids and I can't argue with that. I don't think Across the Universe is poorly named, but I DO think it reminds me more of the sea than the universe. Anyway, great polish and I'm so glad I picked it up! Win!

Picture Polish Denim
So I'm back! I've been pretty overwhelmed with family life these last couple of day and would you believe I was polish-less for almost 5 or 6 days?! *Gasp* Terrible. My nails are gruesomely stained too!
Unfortunately, I didn't get to shop for polish on my trip like I thought I would. It was just too much to think about with my girls in tow. I figured *GASP* I probably had enough new polishes at home and that I didn't need MORE! (Wow did I really just type that?) I did pick up a Deborah Lippmann mini 3 pack of Across the Universe, Bad Romance and Happy Birthday! Wow! That's like all my DL lemmings in one convienant 3 pack! Whoot.
Anyway, this is a Picture Polish, and it's called Denim. It's a very pretty blue with unusual white-ish flakes which makes it kinda look like denim. It also has a very petty blue shimmer which you can really notice in the sun. This is a very unique polish and I love it. It has a ton of personality and texture which I love in a polish!

I'm late to the party with this one. I wish Zoya wasn't such a pain to get up here in Canada. I really loved the Intimates collection. Every single polish was so pretty. It doesn't happen very often when I love every colour in a collection. And yet this is the only one I have. Go figure! I guess I've just been to busy tracking down holos. At any rate. I really love this colour. I think I would love a colour like this only slightly more pale too. The formula was terrific. This was 2 coats. I know a lot of people have trouble with Zoya but I've never had any trouble. Once again I think the trick is the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri top coat. I've been wearing a lot of creams lately and I think I may play with this mani a little. Maybe a matte top coat or perhaps some sparkles? Sadly, this will be my last mani to show you for a couple days. I'm traveling to visit family and I won't have time for manis. So please stay tuned. I am expecting some beautiful Ozotics from Australia. I received a beautiful package of polish from the Netherlands that I'm just waiting on her end to arrive, plus I'm hoping to hit up some nail places on my trip. So there should be lots of goodies for me to show when I return. Thanks a bunch everyone and take care!

Joe Fresh Mallard
This is a fairly accurately named polish. I can see where they got the name:
I don't have anything similar in my collection. I passed on all the new green creams that came out recently. So Mallard is a lonely little duck in my collection. :D
